Liverpool News & Reports
Backdated Liverpool News and Reports,
Comments and Reviews on some matches would also be placed here. It's not really good, but
it's my opinion.
Liverpool Vs Southampton
(Aug 16)
But a win is a
win!!!!!!Liverpool won Southampton 2-1. Goals by Riedle and Owen.Their need for a central
defender and a better goalkeeper is clearly seen in the match against Southampton.
Southampton had a couple of chances but luck was not on their side. At times, we see
Liverpool scrambling at the back line. Not all teams are as luckless as Southampton.
Liverpool vs Arsenal (Aug 22)
Liverpool and Arsenal
both their chances but both failed to find the net. Honestly, i have not seen liverpool
play with so much life in them. They were just going for the ball, trying to win the ball
back when they lost possession of it. It was just wonderful seeing them play that way. And
the defenders were playing rather okie, so much better than how they usually play.
Although there are lapse of concentration from them at times.Perhaps Liverpool were lucky.
But they were also playing better. We see Liverpool losing concentration especially during
the last 5-10 minutes of the game. Think they probably think that the opponent can't score
during that time or whatever is their reason. They tend to switch off during that time and
let the opponents get the better of them. Anyway, Jamie Carragher played well and if given
the experience and exposure, he would be able to equal Tony Adams and play a part in
England's contention of whatever trophies it may be.
Liverpool Vs West Ham
(Sept 12)
What happened to them, i really
wonder. They should have stuck with the original line-up which saw them draw 1 game and
won 3! Maybe Houiller was trying to prove a point, that Riedle must be in the line-up and
that Evans previous tactics were wrong, as seen in this match. This match makes it seem like it's Evans tactics
working all wrong again! Guess it's not Liverpool's day.
And the yucky part is that Redknapp missed a
couple of shots which would have been really perfect had it gone in! I don't feel like
saying anymore, what with the first lost..........
Liverpool Vs Charlton (Sept 19)
Another question again. What happened
to them? Just as i was thinking that maybe the game against West ham was wrong. Guess i'm
wrong. They are now to same old liverpool squad as before, so shaky in defence. Charlton
shouldn't have scored the second goal. It was a bad mistake by the defence. The left so
much space for the Charlton player. Two players "guarded" one Charlton player
but left the other unattended. And Charlton would have won the game had not the referee
stop the game at the crucial moment to book Carragher.
Liverpool Vs Chelsea (4 Oct)
A pretty freaky game i call it. It was
a bad, bad mistake by David James. What was he doing out there? He was so far away from
the goalpost. What was he thinking? He wanted to leave the goalkeeping to his
defenders?????!!!! Okie so perhaps it's his first game after a long time , so perhaps he
wasn't used to it.....or is he changing his goalkeeping style to come off his line more
often? He was caught more than once, twice or even thrice off his line! ( way off his
line!). The first goal should not have happened! But it was pretty heartening(i can't find
the right word to use) to see defenders like Phil Babb going all out to prevent the
opponent from scoring. Babb was like dashing to prevent the goal, not seeing where he was
heading. (OUCHHHHH!) But i don't mean heartening to see them getting injured okie.
Where was Owen? Ever since his
hat-trick against Newcastle, he has not scored for Liverpool........sigh........defenders
tend to mark him more closely. That's sucky. But luckily, Liverpool can rely on other
players like Redknapp, Berger to score. Redknapp did pretty well......missed a couple of
chances........but the goal he scored wasn't much to look at. But anyway, Liverpool did
manage a draw and that's way better losing! Heaps better than losing. Though i would
prefer them to win. Liverpool's recent matches have not been up to expectations. They
managed only 2 points out of a possible 12 from 4 outings. That's way way terrible. If
they wanna win the league, they better do something. With shaky defence, blunder-prone
Friedel, erractic James, closely marked strikers, hot-tempered
midfielders.............wonder what they can do.....
